Street Stock Report
January……What a month of racing. The junior title produced arguably the best final most of us have
seen. The Junior Title weekend provided an opportunity for Street Stocks to run with the other sedans
but unfortunately this had to be cut short due to timing. Well done to Corey for a top effort in trying
circumstances.
The Top Gun weekend was fantastic 36 cars invaded Mildura to try and take out the event. After
much anticipation and rumour over the tip in competition being spread on the net about the likes of
Victor Bray coming to contest the tip in competition. Rob Faux took out the inaugural trophy. The mid
season practice was concluded with a Beach theme BBQ Thanks to Shona, Janine, Harold and the
committee and helpers for the food and entertainment. We would also like to extend our thanks to the
officials and especially the track crew who prepared the track for the practice and then worked well
into the night to get the track ready for the following night.
The top Gun was contested over 2 heats and a B main with the top 10 going through to the A main and
a promoters choice which put 23 cars into the A Main to run 40 laps. 20 laps in one direction and 20 in
the other. As was expected high attrition saw half of the field in the centre by the half way mark.
Nudge Ameduri from WA started the A Main out of pole position and as a result was given the option
to start rear of field for a $250 bonus and a further $250 if he won. In some of the most impressive
highline driving seen this year he managed to take out the majority of the field and in the first 20 laps,
and Win the feature in impressive fashion only to further impress the crowd with a victory lap with
some impressive one armed circle work. Minor placing went to Anthony Beare in second and Adam
Tapley taking out third place. Daniel Sylvia managed to finish a respectable 6th place surrounded by
some of the country’s best drivers a great result for him and the club. The rest of the clubs drivers
went down at various stages throughout the night with engine, diff, cooling, gearbox, steering and
electrical faults. What a tough event this is proving to be for visitors and locals alike. Over all the Top
Gun has cemented itself in the street stock race calendar and is going to be a major drawcard for the
club in years to come. With drivers coming from as far afield as Western Australia a meeting like this
will always take a lot of organization from everyone involved. We would like to take this opportunity to
thank everyone involved for his or her support. Particular mention must go to Robert Faux for ringing
everyone up and organizing an awesome field of drivers and a great event. The officials and staff that
helped prepare and run the weekend, the track crew who prepared and maintained the track over the
weekend, the committee for helping prepare and run the event, all the club members who helped show
cars, prepare and sell food and drinks set up, pack up and clean up the event.
